Harvesting Radishes

This past Thursday we made our first real harvest at our new homestead in Philadelphia. We finally have some radishes coming in, so we had the kids go in the garden and check for radishes that were started to pop up out of the ground. They were very excited. Their friend, our neighbor heard us in the garden, so we invited her over to pick a radish to take with her as well.

Radishes

Earlier this May the kids were excited that there were radishes ready. They are always willing to try them after the excitement of harvesting them, but haven't truly acquired a taste for them yet.

Snap Pea, Lolla Rosa Lettuce, and Sparkling White Tip Radish

I did one last sowing of Snap Peas directly into the garden, and sowed Lolla Rosa Lettuce and some more Sparkling White Tip Radishes along with it. Hopefully it is not already too warm for the peas. Hopefully they still have enough time to produce some tasty peas. I also went ahead and sowed indoors 4 cilantro, to try to get them started.

Sowing Broccoli & Sparkling White Tip Radish Seeds

Friday I got out into the garden and sowed 5 seeds of Broccoli directly into the ground, as I the seeds that I put into the seed starter peat moss discs are not doing anything yet. I also sowed some sparkling white tip radish seeds directly into the garden beds. Here is a picture of the snap peas that we planted before.  When I sowed the first set of snap peas, I had sowed three seeds into the ground near the jasmine to see if they would come up as well, but I did not really expect them to sprout, but to my surprise Antonio and I found little seedlings sprouting up the other evening. And some of the spinach I planted last weekend has already started to sprout.
