Marglobe Tomato

I planted two Marglobe seeds in two of peat pellets that had broccoli that did not sprout. Hopefully these do better.

Thyme, Basil and Tomato Seedlings

Yesterday morning I noticed that the thyme has started to sprout. And when Julia Belén and I took a closer look at the tray on top of the refrigerator, we noticed that the basil has started sprouting as well. And now two Tumbling Tom and one Carolina Gold tomato seedlings have sprouted.

Tomatoes, Broccoli, Basil & Thyme

Yesterday evening I sowed indoors a few seeds of all the different tomato varieties I have from Wintersown.org, some De Cicco Broccoli, Sweet Basil and some Common Thyme. I am hoping it is not too late for my broccoli, and am hopeful that all the seeds take this time.

Georgia Freedom Gardens Gathering

Yesterday I went to the first Georgia Freedom Gardens Gathering. It was a gorgeous day, and we had the fortune of having the Dervaes family being the guest host. The get together was at the Oakhurst Community Garden, which I had never been to before. It was nice to see, and overall a great morning.

Lettuce and Pansies

Yesterday Antonio and I planted some pansies and some lettuce seeds into a container. Antonio was the one who put all the potting soil into the container while I prepped the plants and added the amendments to the soil. I couldn't ask for a better garden helper.

Adventures of Bike Commuting

Today was a very adventurous day in the world of bike commuting. This morning I had to sprint the 4 miles to make the bus. The reason I was late is that I had a nail embeded in the rear tire, and in the process of changing the tube I either found or made a pinch flat in my spare, so I had to patch the spare to be able to use it. Then wrestle the tire back on the rim, then head out.

And this afternoon on the way home from work, my bike was in another bus accident on the highway, almost 6 months to the day (tomorrow would have been six months exactly). I am fine, just sore, and it looks like my bike did not sustain damage this time. But it was scary, it was a multiple car pile up, very much like the crash in Taledega Nights, where cars were spinning in 360's in front of our path and the bus swerved, when up on two wheels and then started plowing into the spinning cars, using my bike as the plow.

But I did not start running around screaming about the invisible fire. . . .

Garden Extension

Today Antonio and I planted a few garlic cloves, we'll see how they grow. 
I extended my garden today. I asked my neighbor in the unit across the magnolias from us if I could plant vegetables in her yard, as she has blockaded her back door to the yard, and never goes back there. She said yes, and of course I told her that I'd offer her some of the harvest in return for the space. So my garden space essentially just doubled today.

This the that 4 gallon container that I planted the last weekend with spinach and radishes, even from yesterday, there seem to be more seedlings.
